The tenth week once more provided excitement, with a huge upset for the Buffalo Bills proving the 'any Sunday can bring surprises' saying that draws so many fans into the National Football League

That result may have opened opportunities for the Patriots to move back into a leading position they used to occupy, with a remaining games that gives them an edge over their 8-2 competitors

Meanwhile in the National Football Conference the Seahawks and Rams had ideal outcomes to arrange a monster clash in week 11, while our top performer is chasing records as well as the MVP award

Analysis - Just a Bad Day for Buffalo?

Josh Allen in action
Did Josh Allen try too much or could it simply have been a poor performance for the Bills?

Was it just an emotional letdown from defeating Kansas City last week or something more? This remains the question for the Bills to address

The Bills had secured seven victories in a consecutive games against Miami but were outperformed from the start as the Miami team ran out 30-13 victors in an eye-opening result - and display

MVP quarterback Josh Allen only achieved the team's initial first down in the third period and initial scoring in the final quarter - admittedly Miami had 10 days to prepare but it was nonetheless a significant failure laid by one of the NFL's top offences

Tua Tagovailoa threw two touchdowns but rusher De'Von Achane was the devastating difference, with 225 combined yards and two touchdowns

Containing the league's best rushing attack was also key, with James Cook and teammates recording just 86 yards, their fewest of the season and just over half their 161.5 yard season average

Then there were the three critical ball losses, and the pair from Josh Allen in particular. An interception in the scoring area resulting in a nine minute drive produced nothing, and his fourth-quarter dropped ball that the Dolphins converted to a touchdown just later

It was classic 'previous Bills teams' as they shot themselves in the foot, falling into a deficit on defense and Allen attempting to overcompensate to dig his team out of it - rather than the composed, disciplined, balanced Bills we've seen this season

The Dolphins have served up a varied performances this season so the verdict is uncertain on whether this is the start of a trend, but for the Bills they'll require an instant response in a tough game against Tampa Bay in week 11 as the Patriots are sneaking into a comfortable advantage at the top of the American Football Conference East

In Focus - New England Identify Route to Unexpected First Place

Speaking of the New England, they're among three 8-2 squads in the league, all AFC teams, but are they the top team?

One could pick holes in New England, Denver and Indianapolis actually for dominating the lesser sides, with only five of their combined twenty-four wins coming against teams with a winning record - and one example was the Colts defeating the Denver

The Broncos beat the champion Eagles in Philly and are kings of the fourth-quarter while Indy can ride Jonathan Taylor, but the Patriots including Sunday's win in Tampa to their prime time success in Buffalo appears to be a declaration

Their two defeats came in new head coach Vrabel's initial three contests, with seven consecutive wins, just like the Broncos, from that point - but defeating Mayfield after the Bucs had a bye to prepare was huge

Maye's MVP claims won't go away, and he definitely earns credit for courage after absorbing some hard tackles in Tampa but persevering to guide his team to success

The defensive unit is solid and rookie rusher TreVeyon Henderson exploded on Sunday with 147 yards and two exciting scores of 55 and 69 yards - becoming just the fifth ball carrier to break 22mph this year on his first score

Although you can argue who 'the best' is technically, the Pats should be favourites to end with the top record thanks to their schedule - which includes just one game against a winning team, although a significant contest against the Bills

Visiting Baltimore is also tough, but Denver have it more difficult in the AFC West with the Kansas City to face two times, the Los Angeles Chargers (who might also compete for first place but encounter the same problem) and also the Packers on the schedule

The Colts also face the Kansas City, and have the Seahawks, San Francisco and two games with the five and four Jaguars to contend with. There's a considerable distance to travel but the opportunity is available for a shock top seed in the AFC

Next Week - Rams & Seahawks Prepare for Week 11 Clash

Two teams with solid claims to be better than all of the three different eight and two teams are National Football Conference West rivals the Seahawks and Rams, who each scored forty points to reach 7-2 before next week's major meeting between the two in LA

They've both won four in a consecutive games, have quarterbacks in Matthew Stafford and Darnold performing at an high standard (although Darnold had ball security problems on Sunday) with excellent pass catchers, and defenses giving up under 20 points a game

Each could easily be without a loss as too - particularly the Rams as their two defeats came in overtime against the San Francisco and then that painful defeat in Philly when they had a potentially winning field goal with the final play deflected and run back by the Philadelphia for a score

Seattle also lost to San Francisco, with a late touchdown in the opening week, before falling to the final play of the contest against the Buccaneers - so they are genuinely two of the top teams in the NFL

The next matchup on Sunday could be the best of the year so far

Top Performer - Taylor
