This exceeds the previous daily record for February 27th, which was 88°F (31°C) and was recorded in the previous year. "Very warm conditions" were labeled on NWS charts for the region. Safety Alerts The weather service issued a warning that Friday's weather posed an "increased danger for heat illness" for people sensitive to heat. Their recommendations suggested: Drinking plenty of fluids. Limiting outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day. Not leaving anyone unattended in a parked vehicle. An Extreme Weather Swing This sharp rise in temperature comes on the heels of a massive storm system that struck the area recently. That event unleashed heavy snow, strong winds, and thunderstorms to the mountains, leading to evacuation orders for millions residents. Unfortunately, the storm also resulted in a deadly avalanche in the Lake Tahoe area, which resulted in nine fatalities. Temperatures Easing Looking ahead cooler conditions is coming. Temperatures were predicted to fall to around 16 degrees Celsius (61 Fahrenheit) in the city by late Friday. Other locales that reached the 90-degree mark included Woodland Hills, Long Beach, and Burbank. Additionally, Westwood, Camarillo, Santa Maria, and Oxnard were projected to experience the high 80s. For the weekend, central LA can anticipate temperatures in the 80s, with a further cooldown expected for the following week.
